Can we not get rid of or hide these fonts any more? My problem is I did not back up my data on my hdd and format it. I've calculated the MD5 hash values in case someone else experiences a similar problem and wants to find out whether his/ her fonts are corrupt. Happy June (almost).

I'm glad that will work for you. Although these surplus fonts are hideable, so they don't clutter font lists in programs, they are still unnecessarily loaded at start-up. About a month ago I discovered a lot of word docs' fonts had gone funny. At least I have control over the machine.
If you had installed 3rd party fonts, then those would be safe to delete as loing as they are not in use though. Surely, there aren't that many system fonts? Anyways, when I try to delete any of the fonts I receive a Destination Folder Access Denied error. No programs are open. Anybody know what to do other then a reformat?
I used shift+del combo for instant deletion, but than issue occured. all these startup tweaks are for super enthusiasts(like i once was, downgraded to xp, lazy to redo tweaks) to squeeze the living daylights out of their computers to get the most I want to remove a whole bunch of them that I don't use, but when I try to delete an open type or type 1 font, I get the message: "Cannot Through a Windows search I am able to find the remaining font files hidden under the extension .fon but I cannot view them in the Fonts folder no matter what.
