Problem solved! So I guess the workgroup password was the strange password needed. Your suggestion worked like a charm. Else, it is just like as the previous person has mentioned --- some password is required., the the "credentials" blah blah ensues.

If your XP machine is an x86 OS you can install Additional Drivers before setting up the XP machine. So this probably is a silly question.
