I wonder if that's gumming up the works somehow, but I'm nervous about just deleting it.I want to make replacing the boot drive as painless as possible since I have zero Disk 1 shouldn't be involved at all.It sounds like you're saying when Acronis says "hard drive 1," they're not referring to my Disk 1 at all, but rather to the destination I don't know how to transfer the OS on H to another disk. Have you run CHKDSK /R on the USB drive also? I have Acronis running automatic nightly backups and have started receiving a new error message: "E000101F4: Failed to read data from the disk. I'm assuming that the backup is from drive 0 to drive 1.This happens when I try to back up from Disk 0 to Disk 4.

It turns out I did a have bad sector that none of these software caught and luckily I had an old copy of SpinRite. Solution You need to check the disk for errors, and update the Acronis drivers. I did get a report from CBL: there's damage to the heads and some platter surface damage. However, I just back up only my personal files, but not my system. The long and short of it is I need reliable backup software as previous doomed restore attempts likely failed due to inadequate restore capabilities. As you said, it's puzzling why it's even looking at Disk 1 if you're trying to backup Disk 0 or 2.Have you gone through the settings to see if there's something All digits crossed that I can restore that partition as well and boot from it. This one relates to the cases when you receive "Failed to read from the sector" error during the backup, and accessibility of the machine is a separate case.
At this point, I'm willing to just ignore the disk errors I'm getting with Acronis and Macrium, since I can't seem to do anything about them anyway.
