I just ran into this recently and found that dot_clean worked fine to resolve Error Code -36 when copying a directory from a Mac with OS X 10.9.5 to a Mac Just look at all the Apple-drones running around still believing their Apple Mac is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It displayed which files it failed to copy as it went, also. It did once and showed the same error.

and i tried to copy the files...as the files copied i downloaded a couple updates for my cpu. The Finder Can't Complete Error Code 36 Who'd have thought that Apple still has uncharted spots for error numbers. I've found the only way around it is to isolate the corrupt file (the last file copied) and restart copying from the following file.
The hidden '._' files should be deleted and you can now copy files to the flash drive or memory card.

Using it with a Mac I would wholeheartedly suggest using HFS+. So despite my instinctive reaction, you might be right; it might have really fixed it.

Due to a long story I don't want to get into I ended up losing a LOT of photos from my iPhoto with no backups to recover from. Can I assume that non-avi files dragged from the same folder succeeded? This time, I encountered the infamous Error Code -36 sporadically. i opened the properties and decided to defrag it and run the check disk on it. If it's disk sector related (error 36 is an I/O one as mentioned before), then moving other files shouldn't necessarily reproduce the problem. Unlike some of the error weird error messages in OS X, a reboot or Finder restart didn't do the trick.
